Michael Leahy
Dr Michael Leahy is a Consultant Haematologist and Head of Haematology at Royal Perth Hospital, Perth, Western Australia and Clinical Professor in Medicine at the University of Western Australia. He trained in medicine at The University of St Andrews in Scotland and in haematology at Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School and The Royal Free Hospital in London. Previous appointments have included Medical Director of the Western Australian Patient Blood Management Program and Chairman of the Western Australia Patient Blood Management Committee. Dr Leahy was head of the team that developed the first comprehensive patient blood management program in Western Australia at Fremantle Hospital in 2009. His current interests include blood conservation and the continuing development of the Australian and worldwide patient blood management programs.
