Ross Baker
Dr. Ross Baker is currently a Senior Consultant Haematologist with the Hollywood Hospital, Director at the WA Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Murdoch University, Director at Haemophilia Treatment Centre, Hollywood Hospital and Chairman for the Perth Blood Institute. His major interest is the translation of new scientific discoveries into clinical haematology practice. As Principal Investigator in, more than 105 large international phase II and III clinical trials, Ross has actively led and participated in clinical research in venous thrombosis, leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, thrombocytopenia, Von Willebrand disease and haemophilia. Since 1992 he has authored over 116 papers in peer reviewed journals (H index 33) and has been a regularly invited speaker at national and international haematology and medical meetings. Ross is a founding director and secretary of the Australasian Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ASTH) and scientific advisor to the World Health Organisation on DVT in 2001. Ross's professional memberships include the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand, Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ), Australian Haemophilia Centre Directors Organisation (AHCDO), International Society Thrombosis and Haemostasis, American Society of Haematology, Australian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Study Group, and the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia Australian Research Consortium (CLLARC). He is also past President of the Australasian Society for Thrombosis Haemostasis from 1997 to 2001, Haematology Advisory member of the Royal Australasian College of Pathologists 1998 to 2003, Chairman of the Australian Bleeding Disorder Registry 1994-2004 and Councillor for the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand from 1992 to 1999. Ross currently is an Australian Councillor on the Asian Pacific Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society (ASPTH) and Chairman of the Australasian Society of Thrombosis Haemostasis (ASTH) new oral anticoagulant Reversal and Event Collaborative (ARES), Asian Pacific Thrombosis and Thrombocytopenia Network (APTIN), the Perth Blood Institute, the Prothrombotic Theme leader for the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis Meeting in Melbourne 2019 and Co-chair of the von Willebrand Disorder Scientific Subcommittee of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis 2018-2020. He has extensive clinical and laboratory experience in a wide range of haematological disorders and has been a consultant in haematology for over 25 years.
